Perridge and Four Candles join label line-up
Local micro brewery, The Flowerpots Inn at Cheriton, already has a well-established brand and a series of innovative pump slips for their several beers. Their latest two beers include a single hop quaffing ale called Perridge Pale, ideal for summer (and any other time too) and Four Candles, a tasty Christmas beer with a nod to the Two Ronnies’ famous sketch of old! The Flower Pots has been in the same family for some forty years and Jo Bartlett, daughter of John and Pat who took over the pub in 1968, along with Paul Tickner, have a winning formula with their picturesque setting, wholesome menu, the now-famous August Bank Holiday beer festival and, of course, their own brewery. Some while ago, Cradduck Design Co. were invited to rebrand the Pots, based on the hand-painted inn sign outside and from that stemmed a strong brand identity which runs through everything from stationery and embroidered staff polo shirts to the vehicle livery (Paul ordered one of the first innovative Toyota IQ cars in the country to add to the brewery’s grown-up delivery van) and, of course, the series of pump clips to identify their beers individually. Each clip is different in terms of what grows in the ‘pot’ but has the same style and utilises the same cutting forme so all the clips are exactly the same shape. The ‘regular’ beers are Flower Pots Ale, Goodens Gold and now Perridge Pale, named after the field behind the pub. Perridge has proved to be a real hit, and at 3.6% ABV is popular with drivers and for summer drinking. Opposite we show the seasonal offering from The Flower Pots Brewery, Four Candles. With a backward glance to The Two Ronnies' infamous sketch, this tongue in cheek title is most appropriate for Christmas and it sits alongside the other beers brewed at this famous Hampshire establishment. |
It's Christmas!
Cradducks have had many connections with the drinks trade over the years and as well as the Flower Pots Inn, they have produced designs for other related projects, including bottle labels for Maurel Vedeau (wine growers in the Languedoc region of France), local importers Chalkstream Wines and Palendrome Wines, a range of Cidre Bouché bottle labels for Greenly Holdings, plus wine lists, menus and brochures for hostelries including The Globe Inn, Alresford and The Wykeham Arms in Winchester whose brochure has been faithfully reprinted for over twenty years with minimal changes and was once described by a reviewer from the Daily Telegraph as ‘designed with care and, rare still, taste…’. The drinks connection doesn’t end there – Cradducks have had a long-term relationship with agricultural specialists Robin Appel Ltd and their sister company Warminster Maltings (who produce brewing malt, as used by...the Flower Pots Brewery!). |
